How long have you been creating art? When did you start using art markers?

I started creating art digitally in 2021, and started using art markers a year later in 2022.

What advice would you give newer artists that have just begun using art markers?

Be patient, and don't be afraid to mix colors and explore! When I first started out, the idea of blending markers terrified me. But with a bit of patience, trial, and error: the process became a lot less intimidating!

Do you have any favorite artists?

So many! I definitely get a lot of inspiration from Disney artists and animators such as Glen Keane

How long does one work of art typically take you?

A digital artwork usually takes anywhere from 3-15 hours depending on the complexity, and a traditional artwork takes about 5 hours. I haven't had a chance to try an extremely complex background with my traditional art markers yet, but it's in the works!

What's one work that you're particularly proud of?

About a year into my art journey, I was approached by Disney/Ravensburger to contribute to Lorcana, a trading card game. This opportunity marked my first professional project, and the initial piece I created for the game remains one of my proudest achievements.

When it comes to my traditional artwork, I'm proud of my early illustrations because they represent a steep learning curve and the sense of accomplishment that came with it. At the same time, I take immense pride in my newer pieces as they reflect the growing attention to detail and techniques I continue to develop.

What inspires you? Where do you look for inspiration?

I'm big on storytelling, so I get a lot of my inspiration from films and photographs! I also love studying other artists' whose work I admire, and get inspiration from them as well.

What’s the most important advice you could give to an aspiring artist?

Don't be afraid to make mistakes, and just do your best! Growing as an artist is a long journey that only gets better the longer you keep at it. Always be a student, and know that there's so much to learn.

What does art mean to you personally?

It means having the freedom to express yourself and tell the stories that you want to tell through your own lens.

What is your favorite Ohuhu series?

The Honolulu series ! The brush tip blends beautifully!

If you could only keep 5 colors from your Ohuhu collection, which would they be & why?

R19,BR1, E210, R12, E110: I love how versatile these colors are. They can be used for skin, hair, clothes, etc!
